Do I have to have dance shoes?

No. We have one of the best floors in the market so that all the dancers will enjoy the dance! Dance shoes are great, but expensive to replace in constantly growing feet, so sneakers and athletic shoes are appropriate. Make sure they are clean, lace properly and are in usable condition. Heeled shoes, sandals, flip flop type footwear are discouraged. It becomes a safety issues, So bring your shoes and enjoy the floor and dancing on it!

Can campers bring cell phones/electronic devices to camp?

We allow students to being cell phones to the program but we require that they be turned off during classes. During camp parents will have at least 2 staff numbers available to stay in contact with their children.

Campers can bring inexpensive portable music players with headsets such as a Walkman, IPod Shuffle (not a regular IPod) or MP3. These are only to be used during free time periods. We do not allow devices such as Ipods, Gameboys, etc.

How big is the camp? How many kids are in a class?

In previous years, we had approximately 15-20 kids per session. We keep our core class sizes small so each student gets individualized attention. Depending on which camp you participate in class sizes are even smaller, for example on the best camp ever classes may be 5 kids in each section.

Is Alpha Omega Summer Camp for the Arts affiliated with a certain religion?

No, AOSC is not affiliated with any religion. Our campers come from all different backgrounds and there are no religious activities at camp.

What equipment does my child need to bring to camp?

We provide all necessary equipment including music, supplies, costumes, etc. However, if a camper chooses to bring his or her own equipment, he/she can do so at their own risk.

What kind of supervision is provided?

The student to staff ratio is at least five-to-one. Students are assigned to groups, headed by 1-2 Instructors and/or camp leaders. Among other responsibilities, Camp leaders help supervise and provide constant support.

Do you offer any scholarships or financial aid?

Financial limitations should not discourage you from applying to Alpha Omega Summer Camp. (1) Full and (2) partial scholarships are available for low- and middle-income families! In order to qualify for a scholarship you must complete the following:

  1. Camp Application
  2. Copy of Free/Reduced School Lunch Eligibility Letter and/or Medi-Cal Card
  3. Applicant's Report Card from a marking period within the last calendar year.
  4. Student Statement: In one page or less, please describe what you hope to gain from your time at AOSC and what you will contribute to the program.
  5. Parent Statement: In one page or less, please provide any additional information you believe important in our assessment of your family's need. In addition, please provide a realistic estimate of how much you can contribute to the cost of the program.

You may also include any other supporting materials that you feel would strengthen your application (eg. Letters of Recommendation)
